How to : Studding

By 8/24/2012 05:00:00 pm

Lately I have gone abit stud mad & have literally been studding everythinggg, i've even started doing it for friends. I just think it really gives an edge to an item & everytime I see a studded shoulder or detail on a jacket ect. I instantly fall in love.

It's so quick, easy & simple to do & it's saves you re-purchasing a studded item off the highstreet. Ive done a quick "how to" just to explain what you need and where to purchase studs etc.

Ive browsed the web and found that the best and cheapest studs are from amazon so i'll pop the link below.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/LARGE-Metal-Silver-Pyramid-Fashion/dp/B007OJI1XI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1345823475&sr=8-1

All you need is ,

  • A selection of studs (they usually come in bags of 10 or 50)
  • A knife (the blunter the better, safety first!)
  • A garment or accessory that you want studding (thicker fabric works best)

I didn't really follow a certain pattern, I just googled a few images and copied the pattern of the studs.

I've found that the studs work easier on thicker fabrics such as leather & denim as when I tryed to stud a chiffon shirt, the studs fell out as the fabric was too flimsy.

All you simply do is peirce the stud through the fabric & use the knife to carefullyyyy bend over the spikey tips. (the more practice you get, the easier it is)

So express your inner punk & start studding!

God, I remember when I was like, 11 years old and I was prying studs out of a Hot Topic belt to put onto a jean jacket *sigh*
    Anyway, thanks for posting!
