As the first post of the year, I decided to start with a round up of the products that I've been loving this month and over the holidays. I've used a range of products categories including skincare/haircare/makeup;
I'm starting with skincare as this is an area I've really been trying to look after as my skin hasn't been great in the cold weather, my skin type is combination/oily but it can get dry in areas which makes it quite hard to find a balance with products.
I've been through quite a few cleansers in the past but this month I've been using the No7 beautiful skin cleansing lotion. It's a really lightweight formula which makes it's easy to remove makeup if I'm feeling abit lazy, but usually I use it after washing off my makeup to remove excess makeup.
In the beauty industry, micellar water and solutions have been raved about lately so I thought it was time to try one. I chose the loreal skin perfection 3 in 1 purifying solution as I've trusted loreal with skincare and It was easier to get hold of than some of the higher ended brands. It's really gentle on the skin and doesn't dry out as some toners can do. I just use a small amount on a cotton pad on my T zone to get rid of any impurities.
Moving on to haircare and one of my favourite essentials, hair oils! I've done a review of my best hair oils before so check that out too. I had a sample of loreal Elvive extrodinary oil and absolutely loved it, just one small sachet made a complete difference on my hair so I've been using it everytime I wash my hair. I apply it to towel dry hair, concentrating in my ends and then blow dry and style.
Another hair treatment I've been loving this month is the James brown photo fabulous intense treatment. I don't use it as regularly as the hair oil and it's a deep conditioner. I usually use it before a night out or leave it on for 30 mins on a Sunday to give my hair a good moisturize. I also love the fragrance of the James brown products as these also last on the hair.
I'm naturally very pale and not a massive fan of tanning. I am yet to find a tan without that biscuity smell! But as a night out glow I have been really liking the St Tropez one night only instant glow body lotion. I apply it with a mit and it leaves a gorgeous dewy glow on the skin that's not streaky at all and really easy to blend in. A definite repurchase!
As many girls, perfume wasn't one of the products I was lacking this Christmas. But the zara nuit fragrance is one I've been wearing daily this month. It's a really light scent that reminds me of sun cream, whilst being quite musky. The bottle is huge! And at £9.99-£12.99 for 100ml it's a real bargain.
Finally is cosmetics, and the first product is my complete holy grail. The collection lasting perfection ultimate wear concealer . Now anyone who uses this concealer will understand how amazing it is. I've used quite a few of the collection products and liked a few but the lasting perfection concealer acts like a real high end product. I use shade 2 light as a prefer a lighter shade for under the eyes. 5 stars!
When it comes to mascaras, I don't tend to experiment much. But when I treated myself to a no7 set around Christmas this lash adapt mascara was included. I wouldn't say it's a great night time mascara and it does build volume but is defiantly a more day time look. If I was to wear it for a night out, I would use it as a base coat and use a thicker mascara to build the lashes. However in the day and at work I don't tend to wear much mascara, so this is perfect and gribs the lashes which means less layering and more time in bed!
And finally onto nails. When I comes to nails I'm quite lazy and don't regularly paint them, but when I do I use quite dark shades and I love the matte effect this top coat gives. You only need one coat, and for a few quid it does the job perfectly. I will definitely be checking out more of the H&M nail polishes.
